Bio
My first song written was sung one rainy evening in the backseat of the car looking out at the lights over the ocean on PCH when I was only six years old, about my friend who left our school without saying goodbye. I don't remember the melody or words, but I remember it made me tear up. Writing is cathartic to me, and I hope to stir the hearts of others through my inner revelations. Silence inspires me, empty amphitheaters beckon me... to feel. To breathe. To share. My newest album "Halflight & Shadows" contains songs that lead you from dark to light. I hope they take you on a journey.
About
Although Adrina Thorpe may be best known for her writing and vocals on the international trance hit "Who Will Find Me" (2007, DJ Shah feat Adrina Thorpe, Armada Records) which the world's number one DJ, Armin Van Buuren, has spun for crowds of 30,000+ and named his favorite song for the last two years, Adrina' passion has always been for music in the contemplative alternative pop genre. Adrina Thorpe's sophomore solo album, "Halflight & Shadows" is not your typical album of love songs. Below its surface, it chronicles the eternal struggle of light against the darkness, and the yearning that each of us faces everyday, the quest for a beautiful life.
A classically trained musician turned singer songwriter, Adrina Thorpe's music has a grassroots fanbase that made her debut album "Elusive" one of the top three most podcasted independent albums on the podsafe music network. Her songs have been licensed by Lifetime Cable, multiple independent films, and on the web licensed by the WB. She has collaborated with DJ Shah (Sarah Mclachlan's Wintersong album remixer 2006) and two of their songs have been licensed and signed to Armada Records. Her independently released music has been featured on many radio stations, including interviews on The Time Machine (Maui's KEAO / KPMW 105.5fm) and UC Irvine's KUCI (88.9 fm). Adrina Thorpe was also a top ten finalist in Star 98.7's independent musician contest with her song "Midnight". Notoriously shy about self promotion, Adrina Thorpe is determined to get the word out about her newest album "Halflight & Shadows".
