In a time when the ever-turning gears of musical progression have seemingly come to a standstill, the principles of creativity and inspiration lost to a sea of greed and industry, comes a new force: a musical upheaval, an outburst, a new effort that is Wealth In Water. Wealth In Water came together in an attempt to create something with meaning, something real, something that we can relate to in this world of entropy that surrounds us today. With a passionate, positive message, Wealth In Water will push forward, expanding boundaries and exploring new territory within the realm of sound. “It’s not easy to put our sound into words, but what I can say is that it’s definitely driving, it’s definitely powerful, and there’s a lot of emotion that goes into it all”, says vocalist Robby Ziccardi. But powerful and driving certainly do not always mean heavy. Wealth In Water is able to pull off an extremely powerful, dynamic sound while at the same time holding true to their melodic roots. “We like to take those heavy, hard-hitting parts, and instead of composing our songs of mostly that, we save them for when they work the best, and when they hit the hardest. It’s a simple concept of dynamics”, comments drummer Jonathan Schwartz. “Overall, I’d say we have a pretty dynamic sound: we range from the softest, most ambient parts that you could fall asleep to, to the most driving, crushing breakdowns that will make you want to go ape shit. And yet we never lose our melody; we make sure to carry that with us in everything we do”, explains guitarist Carlos Dibari. It’s this dynamic that defines Wealth In Water’s sound, making it accessible to many, yet still holding true to creativity and innovation, and never settling for anything less than that. “We’ve always taken a sort of different approach when it comes to the writing process.” adds second vocalist, Pierce Arnold. “So many bands these days have just one or two members involved in the writing process, and they let that define their sound. We’ve been doing the majority of our writing as a group effort; we almost always do it with everyone together. This has just always seemed to work much better for us; it has always resulted in a much better end product”. With a collaborative writing process, Wealth In Water’s sound is able to be defined not just by the musical influences of one member, but by the wide array of influences that make up the entire band, resulting in a much more complex and unique sound. “As a band, we have such a wide array of influences musically, probably more than any previous band I’ve been a part of”, explains bassist Josh Miller. “For example, a lot of the stuff Carlos listens to, I might hate, but when it all comes together in our music it all just works out. On A normal day I might find Pierce listening to Fleet Foxes, while Carlos is getting down to some Vanna, and it’s all in that musical diversity that really defines who we are as a band and how our music comes together.” “On top of that, we all come from extremely diverse backgrounds, and that really can be seen in our overall presence as a band.” adds guitarist Andrew Kinnecom. “I was born in LA and grew up on punk, playing in bands from the age of 13. All of the passion and energy that is a part of punk I’ve carried with me since then, and it is still a big part of my writing style. Almost contradictory to that, I’ve always also been into the softer side of things – bands such as Explosions In The Sky and God Is An Astronaut also rank high among some of my favorites, and that can really be heard in the extremely ambient leads I write that compliment our soaring choruses and bone-crushing breakdowns.” With an extremely solid and complex sound made up of influences all across the board, Wealth In Water is eager to keep growing and expanding on this dream exists within their hearts. But with less than nine months under their belts, this is only the beginning…
