Tungsten
Imagine combining the psychadelica of 70’s Pink Floyd with the blistering guitar harmonies of 80’s Iron Maiden. Update those classic sounds with the modern progressiveness of Opeth and Mastodon, top the blend with the intense vocals of one of Philadelphia’s most talented front-women, and you get Tungsten. Formed in the summer of 2011, Tungsten spent the first half of 2012 captivating audiences at some of the best venues in Philadelphia. Tungsten injected new blood into the family by adding Titi Musick (Kandela) on vocals and, most recently, bass player Clint Arent (Jimmy Kunes Band, Teos). The new additions along with JT Wieme (Willing Swords, The Rifle, Reverence) on drums, Justin Jones (Apex, Centralia, The Monroe Experiment) on keyboards, and Ben Grossberg and Jeff McCall on twin lead guitars are showing Philadelphia how female-fronted prog-rock can glow. Beloved Tungsten alumni: Madelaine Novak (Light Up Bettie, Heavies) on vocals Mishah "Meesh" Salman (Pistolia, Nomad) on bass Mike Louis (Echolalia, Drive Without, Blueskiesfade) on bass
