Thousand Watt Stare returns to Hollywood!!
ANGRY SNOWMANS THOUSAND WATT STARE the BLACKHANDS FREE SHOW DOORS: 9 PM / SHOW: 10 PM It took a lot of guts and attitude for four elves to stand up to the Fascist regime of North Pole dictator Nicholas Claus. The three stole a reindeer and a sleigh and left behind the long nights of slaving in the toy factory for the "Fat Man". They had to get the word out about the real "Spirit Of Christmas", but how? Their answer was a pair as unorthodox as you could imagine. A guitar slinging, boozed up snowman named Mr. Coalfire and, would you believe, the degenerate half brother of the oppresor himself. Dick Claus (Or Saint Dick if you prefer). Dick was frustrated with how his brother was running the whole Christmas racket and decided to help the elves in their quest. Coalfire was just an angry drunk who got kicked out of the North Pole. The six finally got together and decided that the best way to get the true message of Christmas out to the masses was to write their own words to punk rock classics. Conveniently, this help with their rampant anger issues as well. The ANGRY SNOWMANS are here to tell you that Christmas isn't about buying shit and it sure as hell isn't about Jesus... It's about getting drunk, stuffing your face and having fun with your friends... THAT'S IT!! A fun collective from Victoria, BC who have taken the model that Manic Hispanic have made popular and bring you elf-core. They take many OC and punk classics and put on the X-mas and elf flavor on top. Taking the Misfits “Last Caress” and making it into “Last Christmas” or converting the Adolescents classics “Kids of the Black Hole” and “Amoeba” into “Elves of the North Pole” and “Hannukah.” From his early punk days with Dee Dee Ramone to current performances with Corey Taylor of Slipknot, guitarist Christian Martucci is no stranger to diversity. In 2010 he recruited bassist Pat Kim, drummer Dylan Howard of Unwritten Law and THOUSAND WATT STARE was born. The trio released their debut EP, recorded in just one day, to enthusiastic reviews. Amp Magazine hailed them as "the saviors that rock music has been looking for," while publications such as Roar Music Press called them "pure rock n' roll genius." The band spent the rest of the year touring the west coast and began selling out venues as far as San Diego. They added 2nd guitarist Trevor Howard and returned to the studio in 2011 to begin work on their debut full-length album "Silver Dimes." The new album takes a shift from the straight ahead punk-influenced rock n' roll heard on their early EP to much heavier, darker territory. "I've been in a few bands over the years that were expected to sound a certain way and it just never made me happy," says Martucci. "It's all about feel... That's the thing that makes this band special to us. There are no rules." Look out for Thousand Watt Stare's new album "Silver Dimes" to hit the shelves in October 18, 2011 via Hardline Entertainment. the BLACKHANDS are a monster, built for pure destruction, with no restraint. The lyrics read like extortion letters and the songs fire out like machine gun warnings to the public. These swashbuckling punks are armed and ready to create a riot in your heart and a fire in your soul.
