The Nanker Phelge

The Nanker Phelge bubbled up from a heated pool of ectoplasm as a quartet of ghostly vapors, which then cooled and congealed into corporeal forms. They found music helped them maintain their physical forms, so, naturally, they acquired instruments and formed a band, as most organisms do at one point or another. They began playing crappy clubs and dive bars, where they found ample psychic energy to steal like vampire leeches, which, essentially, is what they are. Energy not needed to maintain solidity is regurgitated as new music. The Nanker Phelge's sound is described by Bill Lynch of the Charleston Gazette as "a kind of cross-pollination of early 1970s guitar rock and early 1990s indie pop. The result is a dirty blues-rock".
