THE COSMOS

The Cosmos is a Brooklyn bred experimental band that eschews the current trend of standardized and sterilized rock. Embracing odd rhythms, instrumental song writing and irregular melodies, The Cosmos get their inspiration from post-rock bands like Russian Circles as well as progressive rock/metal bands like Porcupine Tree and Opeth. The Cosmos was formed in 2009 and has since performed in countless New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut area venues, including Highline Ballroom, Tammany Hall, Sullivan Hall, The Delancey, Europa Club, The Paper Box, Arena Lounge, Fontana’s, National Underground, Trash Bar, etc. 2012 saw the release of The Cosmos four track Demo. After a line up change, The Cosmos released their first EP in the Summer of 2013. The instrumental epic, dubbed "Circles in the Sky," featured a different drummer for each song. The virtuosic chops of Mike Heller (current drummer of Fear Factory/Malignancy) graced the EP's heaviest track, "Imbecile." "Jazz Cafe" featured the more laid back and in the pocket stylings of Stefano Baldasseroni (ex-touring drummer for The Mothers of Invention). The Cosmos are currently writing and recording their second EP titled "No Man of God."
