The Black River Band

The Black River Band arose from the ashes from what were the bands RooK' and 'Grindstone.' These were veteran bands, who were part of the local music scene found nestled in a small yet artistically prolific New Jersey town, called Hackettstown. Each member of The Black River Band traces his roots to Hackettstown, forever calling it home.The Black River Band writes original music and lyrics,inspired by heartbreak, the sometimes harsh realities of modern society, human addiction, but not forgetting to celebrate life's greater moments of inspiration and how we must triumph over our foes. BRB are artistically influenced by bands such as The Drive-by Truckers, Uncle Tupelo, Lucero, Rollins Band, The Grateful Dead,and the Misfits. This diversity of musical influence has allowed the band to find itself rich with incredibly timeless inspiration. It is learning those valuable lessons from their musical heroes that allow them to be able to achieve a truly original sound: The band likes to call it "Tool Box Soul" ...but as one band member put it simply,"It's still just Rock N'Roll!"
