Taye Ojei

Taye Ojei whose full names are Taye Alex-Ojei was born in Lagos, Nigeria but hails from Delta state. He graduated from the Lagos state university. Even though he was a science major in school, he always had a keen interest in music as well as creative arts generally. He is an excellent sketch artist and was a freelance cartoonist for a few Christian editorials. His journey into music was a redirection from another field of music which originally spurred his passion–song writing. Taye’s interest in song writing came up in 2004. He initially began with simple poetry and soon drifted into song writing. He got himself registered into several song writing sites and participated in poetry competitions. After .He then decided to use his song writing as a tool in sharing the gospel and so he continued writing songs till he had written over 30 gospel/ inspirational and conscious songs. He decided to go a step further by recording his songs. His first recorded song was done at minimax studios where he recorded songs like ‘If I could’, ‘Gbohun mi’ and ‘Boulevard of broken hearts’. He later worked with another ace producer; Olaitan Dada to produce his first released single ‘Mo’layo’. Taye’s main love ‘genre wise’ are soft and heavy metal rock and he’s a fan of bands such as RED, Tenth avenue north, Skillet, Fireflight,Casting crowns, The fray, P.O.D and a whole lot of others. He loves contemporary gospel musicians like tye tribbet, Donnie mclurkin, Yolanda Adams e.t.c His favourite Nigerian performing artistes are Rooftop mc’s, Timi dakolo, Frank Edwards to mention a few. Besides music, He is a marketing executive in a leading insurance brokerage firm and is a member of a local teenage counselling group in Lagos. In his spare time; besides writing and recording songs, he sketches, plays basketball and is a crazy fan of madden nfl football on the video game console.
