Stephen Fish

My name is Stephen Fish. I am a singer/songwriter who writes songs from the heart about my life experiences. I currently live in a tiny town called Sutton in Vermont in a little house on the side of a mountain with my wife Jane. I lived in Portland, Oregon for seven years prior to moving here and I was born and raised in Falmouth, Massachusetts prior to moving to Portland. My earliest musical influence was The Beatles. I was obsessed with John Lennon's songwriting style. In my early twenties I became obsessed with Neil Young's music and was first influenced by him to strap a harmonica around my neck while playing the guitar. There are many current bands/artists who I am influenced by including the Fleet Foxes, Andrew Bird, Devendra Banhart, Wilco, Kings of Convenience, Tungg, and the list goes on. Classic artists that I am influenced by, in addition to Neil Young and The Beatles, are Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Willie Nelson, etc. etc. During my seven years in Portland I released two albums with my "band" Fishes Plural. They were created quickly and somewhat haphazardly in living-room recording sessions with my wife Jane and our friends (a revolving door). I mixed the albums myself and had them mastered by Chris Vita, also of Portland, Oregon. I released my first solo album Another Day during my final months in Oregon. I mixed that album myself and had Chris Vita master it. That album was accepted onto Pandora radio. I have been working on an album of new songs that have been written and recorded here in Vermont, tentatively titled "Starting Over Again". I decided to reach out to Kevin Carafa in Portland, Oregon to mix and master the album. We are currently putting the finishing touches on the album and it should be available soon.
