Stan Matthews

Guitar player/singer/songwriter. I started playing guitar when I was around 11. I've played all different kinds of styles of music. I went to Berklee College of Music. I walked away from music when I was in my late 20's for personal reasons. I didn't touch a guitar for over 18 years. My wife never even heard me play. In 2008, I decided to perform a Willie Nelson song in a talent show that my kids were involved in. I realized that I enjoyed singing and playing again. I eventually started playing in a small group at the church my family attended. In the summer of 2011, I played my first "open mic". I have since opened for other bands and headlined my own shows. I am a solo act. I mostly perform covers of Hank Williams, Johnny cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and other traditional country artists. I have branched out doing covers of songs by Hank 3, Whitey Morgan, and Hellbound Glory just to name a few newer artists that remain true to the traditional/outlaw country style. I released my first CD EP entitled "Stan Matthews" this spring. My latest cd "Truck Driving Man" released in October 2017.
