Space Camp

Space Camp, based out of Fayetteville, AR, is a live Electronica/Fusion group composed of four seasoned musicians, who have been honing their craft for many years. The band consists of John Hysell on Bass, Taylor Smith on Synth/Keys, Tim Yarbrough on Guitar, and Clayton Suttle on Drums. In 2011, John and Taylor began writing music together, in hopes of one day putting together a live Electronic Trance group capable of performing and enhancing the material; with their shared love for Electronica, plus their talent for Bass and Keys respectfully, the ideas quickly grew. After working up a set’s worth of material, and subsequently wearing out their drum machine, Taylor called upon his co worker and longtime drummer of ECKOBASE (a highly popular Electronica group active from 1999-2010), Clayton Suttle, to take a look at the new project. Clayton, being a seasoned drummer in the style, brings a hybrid of traditional drumming mixed with synthetic drums and sounds to the table; a mighty addition to the group for sure. John, Taylor, and Clayton continued to meet, collaborate, and practice the new material; before long, they were looking for a new guitar player. Insert Tim Yarbrough, lead guitarist of “The OneUps” (a well-known video game music Funk/Fusion Cover band, active 2001-present). Tim, having an extensive background of all things guitar, quickly became accustomed and comfortable with the material. The group relentlessly practiced for a solid year, before finally playing live in 2012. With their extensive lighting rig, lasers, hazers, Digital Projectors, and an uncompromising work ethic, Space Camp has created a live show that is a must see for any music lover. Space Camp has managed to create a healthy amalgamation of various styles, resulting in a unique sound. The band has been received incredibly well locally, from fans, fellow musicians, club owners, and their peers. Space Camp has been making giant strides in what is still it’s infancy as a group, and doesn’t see themselves slowing down anytime soon; The best has yet to come, to stay tuned!
