SIX SON

This ensemble was born in Miami, Fl as a result of the musical aspirations of its members. Their individual desire and creativity drew them together to develop a fusion of the fundamental roots of Cuban "SON" with different rhythms and musical styles. Such fusion could not be possible if not for the extensive formal education in conservatories and universities in Cuba. Their education accompanied by the experience acquired working alongside music greats such as: Celia Cruz, Albita Rodriguez, Natalie Cole, Paquito D'Rivera, Candido Camero, & Tiempo Libre (to name a few) have inspired them and have made them the diverse musicians they are today. Six Son: Fernando Pina (Drums/Musical Director/back up vocals), Yanet Aguilera (lead vocal), Fernando Alonso (Piano/Keyboard), Yovannis Roque (Bass Guitar), Vivian Pupo( Congas, backup vocals), Rodolfo “Fofi” Gomez (Ewi, Flute). Kristen Pina (vocals) Nominations/Awards: Fernando Pina recorded all the percussion & drums on the following : Hecho A Mano (Artist: Albita Rodriguez Grammy nominated in 2002), Toda Una Vida (Artist: Albita Rodriguez Grammy nominated in 2011) he also co founded Tiempo Libre and was the composer of the song Arroz con Mango by which the CD was named and Grammy nominated in 2006. Rodolfo “Fofi” Gomez recorded on the following Grammy nominated albums: Tradicion (Artist: Tropicana All Stars 2005) , Albita Llego (Artist: Albita Rodriguez 2004) , Sin Desperdicio ( Artist: Johnny Ventura 2004). Yovannis Roque recorded on following Grammy nominated album Amistad 404 (Artist: Various). Yovannis also received an award with Level 10 for Artist of the Year in 2010
