Silver Dollar

Silver Dollar came together in Skoochie's basement early 2007. Silver Dollar features members and has featured ex-members of Inspecter 7, The Hub City Stompers, Ruder Than You, Stubborn All-Stars/Skinnerbox, Radio Exiles, Decrepit Youth, Steadfast United, The Chuck Lambert Project, Solid Set, PanOpticon, Taste of Coffee, Power of Soul and more. Its members are also active DJs, Record Collectors, Activists, Scooterists, long time supporters of the local music scene and active in the community with Bassist Larry Wiggins playing weekly at the Sharon Baptist Church in New Brunswick, NJ. At a time when quality is often sacrificed for quantity, Silver Dollar strives to ameliorate the sounds of 60’s Jamaica while also perfecting and pushing their individual abilities. For years we have been bringing Ska, Jazz, Reggae, Blues, Rocksteady, Funk and Soul together with the foundations of western hemisphere music: African tribal traditions, Folk, R&B, Gospel at local bars, restaurants, churches, benefits, cafes, rallies and festivals around the mid-Atlantic region. The end result has been described as a “Monster” sound that comes out swinging and doesn’t let up. Now after three years of continually perfecting our sound Silver Dollar's current lineup is happy to announce that our full length will be out at the end of Spring 2010 and we are interested in playing anywhere and everywhere, presenting and promoting our monster sound. Just in time for the new summer season of sunny Irie vibrations! Whether at the local Scooter Rally, Caribbean cafe, church, BBQ restaurant, Soul Revue, sweaty Punk Club, in a chic trendsetter Jazz club or your yard Silver Dollar pushes to deliver a sound that moves both the soul, mind and body. We want to remind everyone exactly where the music came from and the American roots in the Pan-African experience. If you are not dancing, you are not listening.
