Shelby Dressel

Early on, Shelby shared her talent with family and friends, who all knew she had a gift. Aiyana Baida of Highlands Today said, "Dressel is known for her good ear and voice control." Young Shelby grew up on a dairy farm in Avon Park, Fl., as one of twelve children. She may have inherited some of her gifts from family members who play the guitar, fiddle, piano, and also sing; however, Shelby's gift never left her unnoticed among her large family. Matt Clark of Naples News Daily stated, "It’s a voice that carries into the heavens above this small central Florida city." *** That voice has her on a musical journey, which began at age seven at her local church. As she grew, Shelby performed for the FFA Talent Contest twice! Once as a solo act, then as a duet, and won both times! She knew music was a big part of her life, and began teaching herself how to play the acoustic guitar. Within two months, she played in front of a live audience at the Country Showdown. Shelby's most known accomplishment thus far is her American Idol journey, which landed her a spot in the top 50 of season nine's contestants. Though her journey ended there, Ellen DeGeneres invited her to perform on her talk show. DeGeneres stated: "I love your voice and your confidence." *** Following her televised performances on Idol and the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Shelby returned to her hometown, where she began a busy schedule of concerts, charity events, local shows, and more. Shelby performed with Sammy Kershaw at the Kix Country Fest. She also was scheduled to perform with Fran Cosmo, former lead singer of Boston. Despite her hectic schedule, Shelby spent her free time penning original songs and learned how to play the harmonica. *** At the end of 2010, Shelby embarked on a new chapter of her story; she moved to Nashville!
