Brian Ralston's Self Tort
In 2000, Brian Ralston, an award winning singer songwriter, created "Self Tort" - a "modular", multi faceted band involving musicians local to places Brian performs. In 2013, Brian and the band won the Sydney final of the ABC's "Exhumed", competition receiving wide acclaim for the songs "Oldest Roadies on the Earth" and "Mid Life Crisis". As Self Tort, Brian released his debut CD "N.I.C" in 2006, following it up with "Tortology" in 2010. Following on from the "Exhumed" success, an EP "Oldest Roadies On The Earth" was released under the band name Brian Ralston's Self Tort (BR-ST). In 2015 BR-ST released an album "Stripped Bare" revealing a more acoustic style than earlier releases. Brian has for many years been collaborating with other writers, and has, under the BR-ST name released in November 2019 an EP of such collaborations under the title "Inca Hoots" with a return to a rockier feel in the music. Brian has won a number of songwriting awards and in 2016 was a finalist in two categories at the Australian Independent Music Awards (AIMAS). His music reaches people with his beautiful stories about things that affect us all. Life, love and some social comment that touches the heart of the listener, and more often than not, a good dose of humour.
