42nd Street
42nd Street is not really a band although many of us meet regularly and jam. Though the members change from time to time, the ideas remain the same. We all love to create music and we all want to play our own material rather than cover others. We learned so much from those artists, they are the reasons we play and create. I do not think anyone here expects to make it big, It is more our peers who we hope will enjoy this music. As the record went on and on we found other like minded folks to help us finish the CD. Those musicians are what make 42nd Street unique in many ways. The solo artists literally learned and recorded their parts within hours of learning the material, an experiment in creative musical behavior. I feel if we can get the first impressions of each musician, it would have some of the feel of a jam session. To keep it simple we call our produced music 42nd Street. This came about in a hurry up way. Frank, Marc and I we donating an evening of music for a fund raiser (2008). Some of the songs on this CD were included in that evening. The flyer said we were ‘Live Music’, this almost became the name. “And Now (drum roll) LIVE MUSIC!” I could not see that as our name, funny but not it. Earlier that week I named the studio 42nd Street. The next time someone asked I told them ‘42nd Street’. As the nucleus of this adventure, Frank, Marc and I would get together to record and work on other songs as well. We played a few places but mostly worked on material in our makeshift studio. I made copies of the work we had done and let the folks hear what has been recorded. One thing I would like to do is donate music to a worthy cause. There is one song on this CD, ‘Walk Together’ that is dedicated to the American Cancer Society, 100% of the earnings from that song will be donated to the ‘Walk for Life’, Cancer fund raiser.
