Phreaze

WHO IS PHREAZE? In essence, Phreaze is a connector, an artist, and a community builder who utilizes her diverse skill set to empower others and foster creativity within her community. Phreaze is a force in the Southern Hemisphere’s Hip Hop scene — not only as a passionate artist but also as a powerhouse behind the mic, the stage, and the community. Based in Aotearoa (New Zealand), Phreaze wears many hats: MC, Hip Hop entrepreneur, radio presenter, journalist, artist manager, and youth mentor. But above all — next to being a proud mama — she calls herself an Artist. As the visionary behind Urban Prophetz and founder of Phreaze Factory in Tauranga’s Historic Village, she channels creativity into action. This dynamic space offers community-based creative workshops (The Purple Lab), custom printing (Phreaze Factory Custom Prints), Pacific-inspired crafts (Pasefika Haven), and music-centered apparel (PFC Musicwear). AWARDS & ACHIEVEMENTS Phreaze’s career is studded with accolades across Australia and New Zealand. In 2013 alone, she had six finalist nominations at the Australian Independent Music Awards — four in the Urban category and two for Music Videos. That same year, she opened for US hip hop legends The Game and Twista. Her music videos and singles, including "Can You Come Over" and "Give It To Me", earned multiple BEAT100 Gold and Silver Awards for both songwriting and production quality. Her track "Let Me Go" was a finalist at the MusicOz Indie Music Awards in 2012, held at the iconic Sydney Opera House. Earlier in her career, she was named Runner-Up for Female Artist of the Year (Star Central Magazine), and with Urban Prophetz, earned Best Ethnic Act at the AAMMA Awards and a Highly Commended Honour at the Queensland Music Awards for "No Place Like Home", which also topped the international video charts on MaksTV. COMMUNITY IMPACT Beyond the stage, Phreaze is a qualified Youth Worker who uses Hip Hop culture as a transformative tool. Through workshops across New Zealand and Australia, she supports disengaged youth, empowering them with confidence, skills, and a creative voice. In 2012, she was personally granted the title of Hiphop Educator by the legendary KRS-One after attending an intensive cultural seminar — a rare honor and responsibility she carries with purpose. ROOTS & RISE Phreaze’s journey started like many true artists — with poetry. At 18, she immersed herself in Atlanta’s Hip Hop culture, soaking in every beat, battle, and BBQ. She later carved out a name for herself in Sydney, Australia, before moving to Queensland and eventually returning home to Aotearoa to give back to her community with newfound knowledge and experience. LIVE PERFORMANCES Phreaze has rocked stages across Australasia — sharing lineups with Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Boyz II Men, Outlawz, Project X (Tim Dog, Kool Keith & Marc Live), Che Fu, Tyree, Savage, and soul legend Renée Geyer. From festivals like Bring It On and Pacific Unity Festival to club residencies and major compilations like Major Flavours (Sir-Vere), her stage presence is undeniable. MEDIA & PRESS Phreaze has appeared on TV shows like Hip Hop TV, Fat Pizza, and Totally Wild, and has been featured on major radio stations including Triple J (AUS), The Edge 96.1, Mai FM (NZ), and CJAM (Detroit). Print and press credits include covers and features in 3D World Magazine, Back 2 Basics, Star Central Magazine, and The Reporter (Brisbane). THE FUTURE OF PHREAZE Now back in her homeland, Phreaze continues to evolve as an artist, mother, and mentor — raising her son, running Phreaze Factory, and contributing to the next generation of creative leaders. She continues to record, perform, host events, and lead workshops — always grounded in the belief that Hip Hop is more than music. It's a movement. VIDEO LINKS...
