Pawnshop Radio

Pawnshop Radio is an Indie Pop-Twang band based in Lexington, KY USA. They formed in 2008 when songwriters, Amy Cerrato and Arte Bratton were introduced to Gerald Evans and Edgar Purdom by a mutual friend, David Hadland. At the time Evans and Purdom were on indefinite hiatus from the highly revered, regional trio, 'Sunday Valley' (with Sturgill Simpson) so the timing was perfect. Bratton and Cerrato recruited keyboardist, Lyssa Halley, a previous bandmate who they ran into one night by chance, having not seen her in years. PSR began playing steadily in and around Lexington. Andrew Grigson had taken over on drums in late 2008. Then in 2010, lead female vocalist, Cerrato, switched from guitar to bass when Evans joined Purdom to began touring with their reunited, former band, 'Sunday Valley' The new incarnation of PSR, began writing new songs and recorded a debut EP, "Cornerstone" which was released in 2011. They shot a video for "Light of the Midnight Sun" which was on YouTube just in time for Halloween. At the end of 2011 Halley had to part ways for personal reasons. After a long search, Dana Vogel, stepped in, effortlessly rounding out the current lineup. Over the next two years Pawnshop Radio alternated between playing shows and recording new songs in their home based studio. By the end of 2014 they'd recorded "Dead End Highway" - their first full length album (originally planned as a vinyl release). A few songs from the 'Cornerstone’ EP were revamped and re-recorded so the recent reorganization would be reflected on the album. "Dead End Highway" was mastered by Brian Lucey of Magic Garden Mastering in Los Angeles, CA. He has mastered multiple, Grammy Award -- winning albums and worked with outstanding artists such as The Arctic Monkeys, Beck, The Black Keys, Marilyn Manson, The Shins, Sigur Rose, Lucinda Williams and more). The band's current plans include preparing for a series of mini regional tours to promote the new album as well as some new songs they've been writing.
