One who May Ascend

One who May Ascend (OMA) is a Los Angeles/Orange County-based hip-hop artist, songwriter and independent creator whose work blends introspection, dark atmosphere, sharp lyricism and genre-bending production. Tennessee-born and Texas-raised, OMA approaches music as a vehicle for self-examination, critical thought, perseverance and transformation. Across a catalog that ranges from accessible records such as “No Chill,” “I Go Hard,” “How You Really Feel,” “Betcha Thought” and “Call Me What You Wanna” to more experimental and psychologically driven work, OMA builds songs around distinct concepts rather than a single fixed sound. His music has moved through hip-hop, alternative, rock and psychedelic influences while keeping lyricism and narrative at the center. OMA has performed across Texas and California, including RAW: Natural Born Artists, Texas Solo Artist Award events, the Waka Winter Classic/Battle for Wakarusa circuit, and an unofficial SXSW showcase. He has opened for artists including Kevin Abstract/BROCKHAMPTON, Travis Porter, Gorilla Zoe and Dub-O, and previously won the Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference freestyle rap battle. His poetry has also received a Scholastic Silver Key. Independent by design, OMA continues releasing and developing music under the One who May Ascend brand while pursuing selective press, radio, collaboration and non-exclusive sync/licensing opportunities that preserve artist ownership.
