Nomad Planets

After years of writing, recording and performing original music, Northwest Indiana based Nomad Planets still doesn't quite grasp exactly how to write a decent bio. But, in the grand spirit of all things America, they will try. Guitarist/vocalist Mark Mybeck and bassist Phil Rapchak have played music together in various incarnations for over thirty years. When Whistling Jupiters, their previous combo, was laid to rest, Nomad Planets was born. A creative connection and friendship forged during recording sessions with guitarist/vocalist John Carpenter at his Thunderclap Recording Studio in Hammond led for a natural transition for Carpenter to join the band as sessions began for “The Indestructible Drop”, their first full-length release. Drummer Terry Boylan (Chuck Berry, Big Guitars From Memphis) and keyboard player Chris Grove (Survivor, Eddie Money) were later recruited to fill out the current line-up. Nomad Planets have recorded and released five records - “The Indestructible Drop”, “Edge Of Time”, “You're Never Lost Until You Panic”, "Corrugated Smile" and "Rise and Shine" - on the band's own imprint, The Fairbanks Label. They have garnered radio airplay throughout Chicago and the Midwest along with numerous terrestrial and web-based stations throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. The band’s live performances resonate with a wide variety of audiences, and they have earned a dedicated following along with critical acclaim within the local music scene.
