Mizo Phyll

Livhuwani Takalani Aubrey Ratshiungo, as his parents had named him was born on the 18th October 1986 in Shayandima, Venda in Limpopo. The humble soul Mizo started listen to Hip Hop at a very tender age during the west coast and east coast era and he has been rapping ever since. He got his influence from musicians such Nas, Tupac, Colbert Mukwevho, Jay-Z, Mase, Bob Marley..... The name Mizo Phyll was inspired by chlorophyll which is a substance found in trees and plants to give them their green colour. His professional career started in 2007 with Madhouse Entertainment Owned by Tshilidzi Ramulondi also from Venda, where he did an unreleased album Mapubungwe which was recorded in Bloemfontein at FFLR studios. In 2008 he joined Musengavhadzmui Media to reload and release the album. It features the hit “Vimba” which still receives popular airplay. Also on the album is Tshikandeledzi, which got a Satma nomination for best hip hop in 2009. Mizo is now back at Madhouse working on a second album. “It was an agreement that I release one album with those guys and come back home” confirms Mizo.
