Messgram

Messgram is a emotional heaviness band consisting of ‘sound-freak’ lineup; Janny(FX), Sujin(Drums), Yusik(Guitar), and Jiyoung(Vocal). Messgram seeks for high quality sound of North American band scenes and was formed in 2011 with a goal of ‘The Ultimate Sound’. After a long period of preparation for better music, the band released their first EP on April 2014. Messgram’s first EP [This is a mess, but it’s us] has an unbelievable perfection for an outcome of Korean underground music scene suffering in a major slump. Knowing the band’s potential, Daniel Erlandsson, the drummer of the eminent metal hero ‘Arch Enemy’, suggested audio mixing after listening to their demo music. He mentioned Messgram through his SNS by saying that the mixing was truly interesting and exciting moment for him. The work with Daniel Erlandsson gave them a strong belief that their dreams can come true. However, the band members were still unsatisfied. They spent 40 hours on source recording of the title song ‘Every Moment’, and recorded dozens of different versions from numerous studios, yet it was way below their ideal quality. Under the goal ‘The Ultimate Sound’, Messgram decides to give up their entire previous studio version recordings and starts again from the very beginning. After endless recordings, the band heads to USA with their self-made songs. For a week they worked with Atrium Audio, the American studio that produced such world-class bands as August Burns Red and Texas in July, and the two months that followed were consumed by the painstaking process of back-and-forth feedback and tweaking until the tracks were perfected. Starting from the first song “Blindfold”, each song has various colors that represent different taste and diverse age groups of the band members. Messgram’s music have adapted a wide variation of musical types such as early 90’s emo, post-grunge, metal, trancecore, and the newest post-hardcore and forged into a new genre which is a result of each members’ endless painstaking effort. Devoting everything into their one goal, Messgram may be the one and only Korean band ready to be the next leading World class rock band. Soon, we might have to book a flight ticket just to see their show. Each member has their own job for their living but they say they are extremely happy. Messgram’s first step to their ‘dream come true’ now begins. [This is mess, But it’s us.]
