Mark Risius

Mark Risius plays a rare and intricate style of acoustic guitar that must be seen and not just heard. His first instrument was drums and he uses this percussive knowledge and feel on the acoustic guitar using two handed fret tapping, harmonics, loops, and slap rhythms to create songs infused with passionate energy and whole hearted authenticity. His loop song “Acoustic Kick Ass” has a high octane rhythmic overdrive reminiscent of the band Tool, while the song “Empty Lonely Heart” has more of a softer somber nostalgic longing. Drawing from a wide spectrum of inspirations, emotions, and experiences the variety of song styles and feelings makes for an engaging show.
