LyAllen A musical instrument which is part lyre, alphorn and euphonium? Not quite. It’s a progressive rock duo that combines a maestro piano technician Todd Lyall with MRI techno-geek Ken Allen in the studio in South Pasadena CA. Collaborating musically, and electronically they make their jangle-prog rock music where nothing is off limits in the soundscape. Creating music in their case is a long distance love-affair between MIDI consoles and matching recording gear. With our 4th album release we craft a soundscape that crosses the line between dreamy, mellow, bass driven, but has a great hard prog-rock roots. The band name it is the combination of our last names – Lyall + Allen, which becomes LyAllen. Many of our influences are the likes of ELP, Early Genesis, Yes, Procol Harum, Pink Floyd, Steven Wilson, Porcupine Tree, Riverside, Transatlantic.
