Lori Cherry

For contact/booking info, please email: cherrybombblues@yahoo.com Singer/Songwriter Lori Cherry was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and showed an interest in music at a very young age. Lori first picked up the guitar when she was five years old, and began singing and playing guitar publicly during the 1970's. In 1982, she began singing professionally in several different bands in and around New York City (Jam Packed, Southside Boogie Band, Rattlesnake, Full Spectrum, Band from Hell, to name a few), and continued to do so throughout the 80's and 90's. In 1997, Lori relocated to Florida and ultimately adopted Treasure Island as her home. Shortly after her arrival, she performed at various venues in Pinellas County as a solo acoustic guitar player/singer and eventually became friends with many local musicians. In 2005, with the help of her musician friends, Lori released her self-produced, debut CD, High Falutin'. Her co-writer (and multi-instrumentalist) was Devin Rice of Seattle, who has written and recorded a top-selling album for Windham Hill. Other popular musicians in the Tampa Bay Area who lent their talents to the project were Charlie Morris, Tom Bell, Jimmy Griswold, David Cotten, Kevin Holloway, Steve Connelly, Todd Bowman and Mike Chavers. Music from High Falutin' was used as the soundtrack for the 2006 Independent Film, "La Verita Dell'attimo", directed by Giacomo LaRosa of Rome, Italy. Lori's versatility has enabled her to sing a wide range of musical styles, from Blues, R & B, Soul, Funk, Disco, Pop to Jazz, Rock, Country and Bluegrass. Since her arrival to Florida in '97, Lori worked regularly as a solo acoustic act as well as singing with the Charlie Morris Band, the Paul Anthony Band, The Jokers, Off the Cuff, the Bus Stop Band, 3's Company Band and duo projects with many local luminaries. Lori formerly co-hosted a weekly blues pro-jam, and was also the Entertainment Director at a popular beach bar on Sunset Beach, Treasure Island. She also does studio session work, and has recorded lead and backing tracks for The Alan Craig Project and Charlie Morris, among others. In 2023, Lori decided she'd had enough of the Florida heat, hurricanes and floods, and moved back to New York. She lives in Greenwich Village and has been reacquainting herself with the City, after having been gone for over 26 years. She plans to be singing professionally again in the near future.
