Louis Landry & the LL Orchestra

Envision a celebration of tradition and an explosion of innovation. A professional musician working in the South for over 20 years, Louis Landry lives in Durham, NC, where he writes, records, teaches and performs music. Louis works in rock n roll, blues, jazz, classical, and more, and he sings and plays over twenty instruments, including ukulele, melodica and nebulophone. He’s performed with a continuously diverse range of musicians and bands, including Katherine Whalen, Curtis Ellers American Circus, Taylor Mac, Blowfly, Ironing Board Sam, The Invincible Czars, Grammy winners Ryan Bingham and Jimmy Dean, and the Duke Ellington Orchestra. Louis grew up with music and was especially inspired by his father, jazz pianist Jimmie Landry. He’s lived in North Carolina for three years, following stints in Virginia and Texas. Recently, Louis has branched into the Durham theater community, contributing music to the Manbites Dog Theater productions of THE BEST OF ENEMIES and PARIS 76; local theater productions like MACCOUNTANT; and working as musical director on the Duke University Theater Dept productions of BOB: A LIFE IN 5 ACTS and JACQUES BREL IS ALIVE AND WELL.
