Laura Michaels

Can something actually remain a secret? Laura Michaels may have dubbed her own singing & writing as her “secret voice” when she was just a young girl; but once listeners get the chance to hear her sing, they’re hooked and coming back for more. With just the right amount of softness, harshness, & an honesty that every song needs, Laura delivers universal messages that transcend even her. Listeners drop what they’re doing, and look up to find a young lady reaching deep inside them to pull out emotions they may have kept buried. Her voice can seem quiet & even light, for you only to be taken back by a burst of volume that accurately describes the feelings she portrays. Her vibrato is almost operatic, only to disappear as the dynamics of her songs move about. With a background in musical theater, stints in variety shows and having traveled Europe with “The Best of Andrew Lloyd Webber” as a performing member of Opera New York, her experience doesn’t go unnoticed. There’s a comfortable feeling that you get, like when you just got home from a really long day. She’s comfortable with who she is as an artist and not afraid to show the most quirky sides of herself to her audience. Laura has played and performed at some of the most interesting theaters, pubs, and venues all over the world. Her once “secret voice” is becoming less and less of a secret, and for good reason. To quote Laura on her coined phrase and to verify exactly why she would continue on in the very difficult music business, I leave you with her words “Do what you love & love big”! Quotes & Reviews: "Garth Brooks and Clint Black are just two of the major stars that I did the live mix for when they were still playing clubs. I knew they were going to be stars then, and I was right. I've done at least 10,000 live shows over more than 30 years and I know a star when I hear one. I am hearing one now. Her name is Laura Michaels. Don't miss this one. Then you can say "I knew her when she played clubs". Did I mention that I was Pavorotti's live sound engineer? I know what I'm talking about. Go listen to Laura Michaels.-- " Sonny Smith-Live Sound Engineer "I truly enjoyed the Laura Michaels’ CD entitled “Words of Wisdom”. From track one I immediately recognized the soulful yet rootsy vibe of Laura’s voice, style and songwriting. Not only being a beautiful young talented musician, she’s proving herself to be driven and dedicated with the countless hours of hard work put into this project."
