JRPT
JRPT is a progressive energetic acoustic band based out of Durango, Colorado. This band of four gentlemen have played all across the country for years with many different projects and joined together in December of 2013. The four members include multi instrumentalist on guitar Robin Davis. Former and occasionally reuniting member of Waiting on Trial, The Wayward Sons, and Broke Mountain Bluegrass Boys, former winners of RockyGrass band competition. Robins skill set and influence are highly regarded by some of the top professionals within the bluegrass industry. Jimmy Largent on bass, was given his first bass as a child and is recognized as one of the finest bassist around the four corners. Jimmy has played with such bands as The Badly Bent, Jack Ten High and Neil Nelson and the Saloonatics. Todd Webster original member of the Scrugglers plays a newgrass inspired mandolin with emphasis on great rhythm and clever melodies. Todd has a keen ability to fill tight harmonies and brings enthusiastic stage energy. Patrick O'Halloran banjoist and original member of the Scrugglers brings his own unique style of banjo playing. Patrick has spent a third of his life crafting his approach to the five string banjo, and brings a raw sound that keeps the drive and the bounce moving. The four members of JRPT all provide a high level of musical competence as individuals, and when brought together knew instantly that this is a sound that can't be overlooked. JRPT has already generated some buzz within the bluegrass scene in the four corners as one of the premier acoustic jam style bands. The band can play anything from originals, traditional bluegrass, rock covers, and instrumentals. The band has a clever ability to find songs that haven't been played too many times, all while keeping the show fresh and entertaining. The band emphasizes their abilities of listening to each other to allow solo jams to break down and go wherever the soloist at that moment desires the sound to go. "It truly allows us to break down the molecules of a song when everyone has the ability to take a step back and surrender to the flow" (Banjoist Patrick OHalloran). JRPT has already played all their favorite venues in the Durango area including regional festival Rhythms on The Rio. The band has shared the stage with Hot Buttered Rum, Head For the Hills, Mountain Standard Time as well as sitting in with bands such as the Grant Farm. JRPT is going to be traveling in the future to build on their growing momentum and look forward to playing for new audiences. Keep your eyes open for JRPT as their style and abilities will soon be recognized by more than the lucky few within the loyal bluegrass community of Durango.
