Jim St. James is an American singer-songwriter, recording artist, and live performer whose independent career spans more than thirty-five years. From his roots in Northwest Indiana to Nashville, Tennessee, St. James has written, recorded, and performed original music while building audiences throughout the United States, Canada and beyond.
Choosing an independent path rather than the traditional major-label route, St. James built his career one song, one performance, and one audience at a time. His music has taken him from intimate listening rooms and songwriter festivals to theaters, wineries, yacht clubs, community events, and concert stages across more than three decades.
“Amelia” — Historical, Museum & Educational Legacy
Among St. James’ most historically significant works is “Amelia,” his original biographical song about aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart. The recording has long been featured on the Official Amelia Earhart website, establishing an enduring connection between the song and the historical legacy that inspired it.

This placement gives “Amelia” an enduring home at the birthplace of the woman whose life and legacy inspired the song.

The Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum — Honolulu, Hawaii, has secured “Amelia" for use across its social media and web presentations. The Museum’s connection to Amelia Earhart is especially significant through her historic flights from Hawaii, including her 1937 world-flight attempt from Ford Island.
Medford Historical Society & Museum — Medford, Massachusetts: “Amelia” has been accepted into the Society’s collection and Master Index for future use in speaking programs, exhibits, museum presentations, and its website. Medford was home to Amelia Earhart and her sister, Muriel, and the Society continues to preserve and interpret that important part of the Earhart story.
On September 16, 2026, Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania accepted “Amelia” for inclusion on its Amelia Earhart webpage. Earhart visited Thiel in 1932, delivered a keynote address and received an honorary Doctor of Science degree from the College on December 11 of that year. Her connection to Thiel continued through plans to support opportunities for women on campus, and following her disappearance, an organization founded in her honor raised substantial funds for women’s activities and causes at the College. Thiel has also invited Jim and “Amelia” to be included in a future editorial feature.
Millville Army Air Field Museum — Millville, New Jersey: “Amelia” has been accepted for presentation during the Museum’s September 19, 2026 Amelia Earhart program, where the recording will be played for the audience and attendees. Together with its longstanding presence on the official Amelia Earhart website, these developments have given “Amelia” a growing role in historical preservation, museum interpretation, and aviation education.
