Impalers was formed in 2007 by Trond and Søren under the banner, Rigor Mortis. Obviously a band with that name already existed so a change was needed.
After learning about the brutality of historic figure Vlad the Impaler, Søren suggested to call the band Impalers, as a sort of tribute, as it "was just too brutal not to use for something".

Inspired by the riffing of Kreator, Sodom and Metallica, they quickly found their direction, and sound.
