Heonia

HEONIA is a Death Prog Metal band from the North of France. The band is set up in 2006 by Thomas (Lead Guitars) and Marieke (Vocals). Together with Damien (Keys & Growls) and Cédric (Rhythm Guitars), they write HEONIA’s first two pieces while still actively searching for musicians to complete the band. These first pieces define HEONIA’s style of music: powerful Melodic Metal with touches of Prog and Death; female vocals combining strength and softness supported by aggressive male vocals. Once the line-up is complete, HEONIA makes its music known to a wider audience through numerous gigs (among which: opening for Kells (Fr), Misanthrope (Fr), To-Mera (UK) or The Old Dead Tree (Fr)). In November 2008, HEONIA releases its first EP “Simulacra”. It enjoys favorable reviews and is well received by audiences when played live. HEONIA continues on the logical path of its artistic development and records its debut album. Winsome Scar is released in September 2010; its sound is rather dark, melodic and progressive. In 2011, the band presents Winsome Scar to Metal Webzines and to its audience. Most of the feedback received is positive. After numerous gigs until the end of 2013, HEONIA focuses its attention on the composition of its second album, releases its first music video “The Die is Cast” and gives itself a new rhythm section with the arrival of Dereck (Drums) and JB (Bass Guitar). In 2015, HEONIA inks a deal with the label M&O Music and releases releases its second album “Portraits” in Novembre. This album is a watershed for the band with a style emphasizing its Death Metal influences and darker and more violent tunes. The band also releases its second music video "Freaks' Dance" in January 2016. HEONIA is currently touring to promote its new opus and played in France, Belgium and UK in November 2015. More gigs are in preparation for 2016.
