George Garza, Jr.

George Garza, Jr. was born in February of 1985 and raised in San Antonio, TX. Musically, George has been singing since he was a child and began performing on acoustic guitar and electric bass as a teenager. Bassist for the band Pop Pistol, George contributes to several other San Antonio based bands while also performing solo as a singer-songwriter. His influences cover a wide spectrum of music including church hymns, R&B, DooWop, Soul, classic country, and modern alternative music. Moving between gently swelling rhythms and percussive strum patterns on his nylon-stringed Cordoba electric guitar, each song's instrumentation is a rolling canvas sweeping just beneath powerful vocals and memorable melodies that rise and fall with grace and surprising control. As a national touring band, the success of Pop Pistol garnered them title of Best Indie Rock Band by the San Antonio Current. Their self-produced recordings received acclaim and airplay through the Midwest and East Coast. In light of the band's accomplishments, George's solo work has been met with honest surprise for his unassuming talent and ability to evoke genuine emotion. George’s ambition is to make a living as a pioneer in the ever-changing new music industry and maintain a strong connection to the community with philanthropic intentions. He is founder of the San Antonio Local Music Guild, a music community group that hosts meetups and facilitates guest speakers on multiple aspects of the current music industry. In 2013, George was appointed President of M.U.S.I.C. Project, a startup nonprofit that links volunteer musicians with various organizations for music programming, mentorship, and performances, as well as seeks to improve working conditions within the San Antonio music community. He is currently enrolled in school pursuing a degree in Social Work.
