Futhark

Futhark was born in February of 2002 in Medellín as a metal project of 3 friends exploring Viking and Celtic ethos in order to draw a parallel with our own cultural legacy. The Nine Noble Virtues : Courage, Truth , Honor , Fidelity, Discipline, Hospitality , Self Reliance, Industriousness, and Perseverance, present in the Viking people allow the band a lyrical and conceptual approach which, supported by this cultural identity and a thick sound of war chords own of metal bands , they create harmonies which symbolizes epic marches from times of independence and colonization of Antioquia, in a cultural environment in which every metal band must fight against many odds and keep up the fighting spirit to meet its goals. It’s no casual for the lyrical approach to use dark , mystical and ritualistic contexts used by many black metal bands to draw their narratives , especially with the significance that brings the FUTHARK , or runic alphabet used by Germanic people, which has a magical secret in each of their phonetic representations , thereby fixing strong opposition to Christianity and its decay , opposition which seeks to highlight the autonomy of man to choose the way to go in search of wisdom. With this cluster of ideas become the first songs of the band, something primitive lyrically and musically , but gradually taking shape and ready to be published. In the first year a self-produced demo tape is released with 7 songs entitled " Rebirth of the Pagan Pride" this had been sold to some friends and followers during the first concert of the band, months later, a self-produced promotional demo CD is released, entitled "The Rebirth of the Pagan Pride " which includes 2 songs and 2 videos amateur of that songs. For 2006 is released another self-produced promotional demo CD entitled " Futhark " with 6 songs. On June 28th, 2008 is presented in Metal Medallo and December 13th at Parque Biblioteca de Belén, from this time are some line-up changes stopping for several years the advance of the band, but the band keeps making shows. For 2011 begins again to consolidate a stable line-up and for July 7th of that year is back at Parque Biblioteca de Belén invited to participate in a show for “La Semana de la Juventud” (The Youth Week). On May 13th, 2013 is released the split CD entitled "Tale from the Ancient Forest", with the black metal band from Medellin Mysteriis, in a limited edition of 33 copies by Depressive Illusion Records, an Ukrainian label, it contains 7 songs and 2 bonus tracks in the part of Futhark, with unreleased material recorded between 2004 and 2006, this split was re-released by the Ecuadorian label Black Goat Prod. in december of 2013 and few days after the Split Heathen Fire with the band Invocacion was released by Sabbath Productions. Futhark has set the challenge to continue on the path of paganism, this time with new warriors and ideal to hold high the banner of battle victoriously raised from its foundation.
