The Frye

For 10 years, The Frye has been writing, performing and recording songs inspired by a love of 1970s AM radio. The duo performs at nightclubs, festivals, concerts and private parties throughout the region. In 2015, they embarked on a fascinating project, "The Best of Hank and Rita: A Barroom Operetta by Joe Tougas." With 12 original songs, the duo portrays a fading country-pop act from the beloved 1970s. Performed to sold-out audiences in Minneapolis, Mankato, New Ulm and elsewhere, the show has been praised as "funny, sad, smart and really original." The CD of the same title is the Frye's second disc of original music, and was praised by SouthernMinn SCENE magazine as "a brilliant song cycle that nearly plays like a novel."
