KUMA "Music never expires", DJ Kuma maintains, and it's something of an outlook towards music that the long standing Malaysian DJ has been following all these years.
 DJ Kuma has been DJ-ing for more than a decade and a half now playing nothing but house music since 1999, and, as one of the country's pioneering underground DJs, he continues to keep the scene alive and fresh in Malaysia's growing Electronic Dance Music scene. Kuma's interest in music started at a very young age. At 14 he began experimenting with cassette tapes making compilations and dub tapes for his friends and classmates. As his passion for music grew stronger he began to hang out at local clubs watching DJs perform. That influenced him even more and he started learning how to DJ from a close friend who was a resident DJ at an established local club in 1996. Having the advantage of access to the club's record collection he began experimenting with dance music and fell in love with the sounds of Electronic Dance Music. He began veering more towards the underground house music scene of the the time, and began playing regularly as guest DJ at local club the Dance Cafe. This led to full blown residencies at established Kuala Lumpur clubs of the period such as Absolute Chemistry, Voyeur, Q bar, Emporium, Nouvo and Warehouse. Having been involved in the dance music revolution in Kuala Lumpur since it's beginnings in the late 1990s, home ground Malaysia has been keeping him busy playing 5 to 6 nights a week, either opening for visiting artistes or headlining at Kuala Lumpur's big room venues past and present such as Atmosphere, Zouk, Euphoria by Ministry Of Sound and local after party clubs over the years such as Tube, Bar Code, Carlos and Backyard. As his fan base grew, his music travelled further, and he is now one of the very few established DJs from Malaysia who plays across South East Asia and Europe. With his signature underground trendy sounds, he's earned himself something of a name in the Asian underground house music community, taking the music to dance floors across South East Asia, including the likes of Embassy (Philippines), Sound Club (Thailand) and festivals such as the Full Moon party on the beach of Hadrin in Koh Pangan (Thailand). Kuma was the first Malaysian DJ to be invited to play at the world famous Bora Bound Summer party (2010) in the Philippine island of Boracay which featured international artistes such as Miguel Migs, Steve Lawler, Lee Burridge, Satoshi Tomiie, Lisa Loud, Chicane, Infusion, Dave Seaman, Danny Howells, Lenny Ibizarre, Ken Ishii, Steve Porter, Danny Rampling, Paul Van Dyk, Grant Nelson, Colette, Desyn Masiello, Aldrin, Nathan Coles and many more. He has also made an appearance at the Lakedance Festival (Netherlands). He recently made his debut on the world stage for electronic dance music playing in Ibiza at Club Eden in the summer of 2011, returning there in 2012, while making further island appearances at Hush, Es Paradis, the Pukka Up Boat Parties, and is set to return to the Balearic island this summer. Kuma now runs and headlines the mighty Quinte @ Manor, a premium after party venue in Kuala Lumpur and the city's only pure underground house music club, featuring truly off-the-mainstream dance music from both local and international guests. Kuma's style of playing and music arrangement when performing a set can be associated with DJs such as Chus, Hollen, Metodi Hristov, Sebastien Leger and Uto Karem; and labels such as Great Stuff, Tronic, Moon Island, Deeperfect and Kling Kong, and he currently has four Top 100 mixes on Beatport. What you can expect from Kuma's set is nothing but groovy tracks all the way from start to end, taking you from deep house to tech house and tribal to techno, and all points in between. It's always a good feel set that is tasty for the ears. Having been a regular guest, playing his signature sounds, over the years on some of Malaysia's premiere radio stations including Red 104.9FM and Capital FM (Malaysia), he currently has a monthly show called Underground Trendy on the internet station InsomniaFM, where he plays his signature 124-127 bpm sounds engineered and tailored to groove. Armed with his uncompromising style that is solely designed for the witching hour, Dj Kuma continues to win a new legion of fans with every gig he does. It's funky, its uplifting, its arm waving, spine tingling, hands in the air, main room peak hour music that demands the biggest reaction from the biggest arenas.
