Distorted Force

Bio & Line-Up : Το 2005, στη Θεσσαλονίκη, το μαθητικό συγκρότημα Black Flame αφού είχε κάνει μια αποτυχημένη προσπάθεια περίπου ενός χρόνου να σταθεί σαν μπάντα διαλύεται (μέσα του 2006) και ο ένας από τους δύο κιθαρίστες του συγκροτήματος Νίκος Φελέκης αναζητά καινούρια μέλη για το σχήμα. Την άνοιξη του 2008 μέσω αγγελίας βρίσκεται με τον drummer Ευριπίδη Συργανίδη και ξεκινάνε να επεξεργάζονται την ύλη που προ υπήρχε από τους Black Flame. Το φθινόπωρο της ίδιας χρονιάς πάλι μέσω αγγελίας μπαίνει στο σχήμα ο κιθαρίστας Αλέξανδρος Στρούμτσας. Το line-up είχε σχεδόν αλλάξει ολοκληρωτικά και έτσι το group αποφασίζει να αλλάξει όνομα. Καταλήγουν λοιπόν στο Distorted Force και ξεκινούν να διασκευάζουν παραδοσιακά heavy κομμάτια των Black Sabbath, Danzig, Dio, Iced Earth κ.α. Με τον Αλέξανδρο να καλύπτει τη θέση του τραγουδιστή παράλληλα με του κιθαρίστα οι Distorted Force κάνουν μια σειρά από live σε διάφορα μαγαζιά στη Ναβαρίνου. Σε ένα από αυτά θα γνωρίσουν την Στεφανία Παπαγιανοπούλου η οποία μετά από μερικές μέρες και μια πρόβα, θα προσληφθεί αμέσως να καλύψει την θέση των φωνητικών και το σχήμα θα ολοκληρώσει ο Τάσος Παπαδόπουλος στο ρόλο του μπασίστα. Ακολούθησαν μερικά live και το καλοκαίρι του 2009 το group αλλάζει drummer και ο Θωμάς Καραμιχάλης μπαίνει στη μπάντα για να μείνει μέχρι σήμερα. Τον Νοέμβριο του 2010 οι Distorted Force ηχογραφούν ένα ομώνυμο demo με έξι κομμάτια, τρία δικά τους και τρεις διασκευές. Λίγους μήνες μετά, η τραγουδίστρια φεύγει στο Montpellier της Γαλλίας για μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές και τη λύση δίνει η Μαρία Κρομμυδά για να καλύψει τη θέση της φωνής. Τον Μάιο του 2011 θα ηχογραφηθεί ένα EP με τίτλο A Dead Man's Dream. Τον Οκτώβριο του 2011 , μετά από δύο εμφανίσεις στη Λεμεσό της Κύπρου, από τους Distorted Force θα αποχωρήσουν ο μπασίστας και η τραγουδίστρια και θα προσληφθούν δύο τραγουδιστές, οι Νίκος Σφουγγάρος και Κώστας Τζιουμάκας, η μπασίστρια Αγαθή Άτση και ο πληκτράς Σπύρος Άκανθος ο οποίος έμμελε να αποχωρήσει τέσσερις μήνες αργότερα. Με αυτή τη σύνθεση εκτός του Κώστα που εκπλήρωνε τις στρατιωτικές του υποχρεώσεις τον Μάιο του 2012 ηχογραφήθηκε ένα δεύτερο EP με τίτλο Depersonalization. Τέλη καλοκαιριού της ίδιας χρονιάς ο Αχιλλέας Αδαμίδης θα γίνει ο νέος πληκτράς του συγκροτήματος. Το πρώτο full length album (Fields in Desolation) ήταν έτοιμο τον Φεβρουάριο του 2013. Το καλοκαίρι θα αποχωρήσουν η Αγαθή Άτση και ο ρυθμικός κιθαρίστας Αλέξανδρος Στρούμτσας ο οποίος μάλιστα μετρούσε πέντε χρόνια στο group. Η θέση του μπάσου θα αντικατασταθεί το ίδιο καλοκαίρι από την Κατερίνα Μιλονά. At Spring of 2008, through an ad he meets Euripides Sirganides and start working the tracks that pre-existed from Black Flame. At Autumn of the same year, they welcome Alex Stroumtsas to fill the posotion of the rhythm guitarist. The line-up had almost completely changed, so the guys decide to change the band's name. They come up with Distorted Force and start covering traditional heavy metal groups as Black Sabbath, Danzig, Dio, Iced Earth e.t.c. With Alex also singing besides playing guitar, Distorted Force perform plenty of live shows at many avenues at Navarinou Square, Thessaloniki. At one of this shows they meet Stefania Papagianopoulou. One week later she's about to be hired for the place of the band's lead singer. For the first time, line-up is completed with the insert of Tasos Papadopoulos as the group's bassist. Till the summer of 2009, a lot of live shows followed and Distorted Force change their drummer. Thomas Karamihales comes to stay. At November 2010, they record a self-titled demo. A few months later, Stefania leaves secularly to study aboard. Maria Kromyda will fill the gap for almost a year. At May of 2011, their first EP will be recorded (“A Dead Man's Dream”). 2011's Octomber, after two shows at Limasol, Cyprus, from the group will withdraw the singer and the bassist. Nikos Sfougaros (vocals), Kostas Jiumakas (vocals), Agatha Atsi (bass) & Spyros Akanthos (keys) will be hired the same month. Withought Kostas (due to serving his military obligations), they record a second EP titled “Depersonalization”. The first full length album was ready at Febuary of 2013 under the name of “Fields in Desolation”. At summer of the same year, Agatha and Alex leave the band. Katerina Milona was about to be Distorted Force's new bassist. Influences: Distorted Force started as a heavy metal group till the early 2011 to turn into a more atmpspheric sound. Inchmeal the band was drawing away from the old school heavy metal in which they first began playing with. As time passed, the band was turning to the progressive paths of Dream Theater, Fates Warning, Porcupine Tree and Nevermore. Lyrically the group seems to like concept albums with every new record following the same story line.
