Bio
James Kuczmarski (singer/songwriter/composer/arranger) was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1977.
Kuczmarski has been composing musical pieces via hard drive, as DarKsLide, since September 2005. Since discovering Ableton Live software in 2006, DarKsLide has become somewhat of a hybrid in genres, experimenting with combinations of dark ambient, electronica, melodic instrumentation and effects.
About
DarKsLide, an ongoing solo project started in fall 2005, has created songs that sprawl genres from alternative rock to dance, industrial to experimental, acoustic to electronica and more. With an overall theme of dark, moody, and introspective elements shadowing over the landscape, DarKsLide aims to create music that will take listeners to a new sonic world. The songs vary in styles, offering an open spectrum of emotions. Alternative and ambient guitar stylings lift up the atmosphere in certain tracks, while others are more focused on experimentation and expression through other instruments and effects.
Spending most of his years listening to music and playing guitar, songwriter/arranger James Kuczmarski has developed an overwhelming passion to create and perform. After learning to play guitar at the age of 15, he started to become aware of the local music scene in his hometown (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) and got involved. He co-founded and played guitar in several bands throughout his Edmonton years:
Outcast (92-95), Punksure (95-97), and Standing Down (2000).
Kuczmarski first reflected influences of punk rock, metal, and alternative in his playing and writing in bands. Although he is still immersed in these genres, he has reached out in a number of different aspects since. He now lives in Victoria, BC and writes songs in his studio, using Ableton Live 6.
