Clay Pigeons

Clay Pigeons located in Raleigh North Carolina and all originally from Stanly County North Carolina seamlessly blend folk, country, rock, pop and bluegrass music into one unique sound, the Clay Pigeons bring a foot stomping, soul shaking performance to the stage. Clay Pigeons are currently performing in and around North Carolina to promote their inaugural EP American Pipedream as they begin work on their first full length album that the band hopes to release in spring of 2013. The release will mark their 3rd anniversary as a band. The members of the Clay Pigeons are united by two forces that fuel their friendships and their music; their origin from neighboring small towns in Stanly County, North Carolina, and their mutual passion for the power of songwriting. The band began as a singer/songwriter collective but played their first show as a band in May of 2010 at Wilmington’s WE Fest. Now the band mixes numerous instruments ranging from guitar to harmonica, electric bass to mandolin, drums to the occasional accordian. The band draw their inspirations from the great storytellers and musicians like Bob Dylan and The Band, Neil Young, The Rolling Stones, Patti Griffin, Gram Parsons, Townes Van Zandt, John Prine, and Johnny Cash. In the past year they have played both acoustic and electric sets allowing them to play with a variety of musicians at a variety of venues. The band looks forward to continuing their songwriting and performing around North Carolina as they build hometown support before moving outside of the state in 2013 to promote their first LP.
