Claudine Ledoux, mezzo-soprano

A multi-faceted artist with a warm and supple voice, Claudine Ledoux has garnered many positive reviews from critics and audiences alike for her stage presence and her musical sensibility. Active as a performer in both opera and sacred music, her repertoire moves easily between Baroque and Contemporary music. She has been a soloist for various prestigious ensembles, such as Seminario Musicale (GÉRARD LESNE), l’Opéra de Montréal, l’Orchestre symphonique de Montréal under the baton of CHARLES DUTOIT, la Chapelle de Montréal conducted by YANNICK NÉZET-SÉGUIN, Les idées heureuses - GENEIVÈVE SOLY, le Studio de Musique ancienne de Montréal, la Nouvele Sinfonie (HERVÉ NIQUET), Chants Libres, l’Orchestre symphonique de Longueuil (MARC DAVID) and many more. Claudine Ledoux is a familiar artist at international festivals (Ambronay, Pontoise, utrecht, Brussels, etc.) and her performances have been broadcast frequently on Radio-Canada as well as european broadcasters. in France, she performed alongside Gérard Lesne, in the opera ’’il Medoro’’ by venetian composer Francesco Lucio. She is a regular performer in the netherlands, Belgium, england, France and italy. in november 2009, she created the role of La Pomme in Gilles Tremblay's opera L’eau qui danse, la pomme qui chante et l’oiseau qui dit la vérité, with Chants Libres. Claudine’s performance on the album ’’Noël à Darmstadt’’ (Les idée heureuses, nominated for a Félix for best classical album), distributed by the Analekta label, was lauded by international critics. Claudine Ledoux has been awarded grants from Musicaction, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and by the Canada Council for the Arts.
