Caduseus

Caduseus writes and performs a most songful style of rock, which is guaranteed to leave you whistling or humming even after the first listening. The band's original music takes you to some refreshingly diverse places, musically speaking. Fronted by Jim Griffin, with a distinctive dark edge to his voice, the music explores the many facets of human emotion, from a bitter-sweet ballad portraying the uncertainties of love, to the industrial metal menacing threats of a lover scorned. They are not afraid to tread into unexplored territory and blend their instruments and vocals in some very adventurous ways. One of their songs captures the free spirit of America's First Nation settlers and has won much adulation and friendship from many native American Indians, for example. Caduseus has had a heavy presence on the underground scene since the 1990s, having generated a healthy following by playing live at reputable venues and numerous festivals around the UK. They also performed at the first Matthew Street Festival (Beatles tribute event), in Liverpool, UK, held in 1992 Jim and his band pioneered the first ever live AV webcast in the UK in 1996. The event, scripted by Jim, took place at Celtica, Machynlleth, Wales, on the occasion of the Welsh Halloween, Samhuinn (significant in the Celtic calendar), on 10th November that year. The one-hour webcast, which had taken 14 months to organize, featured the band's original songs and was a great success, reaching far and wide to 22 countries and attracting the attention of NASA HQ, who were developing space shuttle-to-earth communications. The video from the show was published by Ninth Wave Records, the band's own label. We believe that Caduseus was the first in the world doing this kind of thing. Unhindered by 'genre' or industry-led stereotypes, this band goes wherever the muse takes it.
