Buck Daddy

Buck Daddy’s music is as raw and rugged as the area they hail from, the steel mill towns in northwest Indiana. Described by one music critic as “having pop sensibility, but with a more rocked up rootsy Americana edge”. Randy “Buck” Anderson grew up listening to Cash, Beach Boys, Willie, and Hank. As a teen he was drawn to bands like Aerosmith, The Stones, The Faces and later to country rock/hybrids like Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers, Petty, Wilco, Old 97’s and The Waco Brothers. Those influences along with the backdrop of life in an industrial town have all simmered together to create the songs on Buck Daddys debut CD, “Fine Music To Buck To”. The topics on the new disc draw from our pasts, like the story of a single Mom trying to get it together in “Redemption”, the urban legend of mob ties, murder and mayhem told in “Clay Pits” and the crowd favorite about a very wild weekend south of the border, “Jesus Lives in Mexico”. To put it simply, Buck Daddy brings it to every live show. Their songs coupled with energetic live performances have garnered them opening slots for the likes of Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers, The Gin Blossoms, Cracker, The Waco Brothers, Shurman, 7 Mary 3, and Chicago favorites Local H and The Steepwater Band. As the Buck Daddy train continues to gain momentum, 2010 found the band not only getting airplay on X-Rock WXRD 103.9 and WXRT 93.1, but also headlining festivals and shows.
