As an illustrator and animator, Music has always been a strong influence in my life, what ever the genre. I grew up listening to a lot of classical music played on the stereo by my mum. With that and in a none direct way, she helped me to appreciate the art and the various sounds and instruments used, especially in orchestration. My interest in film and animation came along very early and so too did my interest in their score. Mainly films but also t.v. and games. The power and passion was enough to get my illustrative imagination going. My main interests were and still are the works of Hans Zimmer, James Horner, Lee Holdridge and most recently: Knut Avenstroup Haugen, Russell Shaw, Thomas Bergersen and never forgetting Jeremy Soule. I've always loved music, but that was as far as it went. The idea of creating my own work was not even worth considering. The closest I ever got, was playing the guitar and larking around with friends, but that never really went anywhere, So I just listened and illustrated pictures of high adventure… Recently, it was brought to my attention that it was possible to put together a bit of music of my own (good or bad, it was still music….) I am no musician by far, but the old influences and years of getting absorbed into many different worlds has given me a lot of inspiration to peace things together and create something. Mainly going with the gut feeling. In spite of the fact that I'm not musically trained. I've loved every minute of it and plan to do more. If I don't do any more then well, I gave it a good go! What with everything though, I just want to say how great my wife is. Putting up with my ever changing interests and fads. Putting up with me getting her to listen to the same bit of music each time I update it to progress slightly….. yet supporting me 100%.
