AGANA

Vanessa Solari Espinoza is a Venezuelan-American female who resides in the Bay Area. By night she is DJ/MC AGANA spinning a fusion of politically conscious revolutionary raza music to inspire the masses. Her genres include salsa, samba, merengue, reggaeton, dancehall, hip hop, soul and a classic collection of the Americas. She has been DJing since she was 14 and was a host and DJ for the Eclipse Show an underground hip hop music experience for youth radio. She sang back up salsa coros with her sister, Heather Licini a composer and producer for Oddua Records which started her rhyming and writing songs in English and Spanish. She has performed for the SF carnival parade rhyming in Spanish for Fogo No Roupa and has shared the stage with such performers as Mystic, Les Nubians, Akil Amar, Brown Buffalo Project and Las Bomberas de la Bahia. Agana was the official poetry slam DJ for the entire Oakland Berkeley and SF area for seven years. She has been a DJ for youth health fairs and Youth Together’s Unity events at every high school in Oakland. Agana has been a resident DJ for Oaklandish and the East Side Arts Alliance in Oakland. She has spun music in Puerto Rico, Spain, Venezuela and is a local Bay area DJ. By day she is the founder of Joyas Criollas a custom-made line of graffiti style jewelry. Agana has combined her visual and musical skills together and is focusing on music video production, film and visual effects. Music is her first love because it teaches our community skills through its elements by educating the masses and bringing us closer together through the common connection of a struggle.
