Acoustic Groove Machine

Acoustic Groove Machine is a Johannesburg-based alt. folk band with a catchy, unapologetic sound that puts bums on seats and then gets them up and dancing. The audience is the fourth member of the band, playing as big a part as the guitars, accordions, percussion and dulcimers: Acoustic Groove Machine knows all about putting on a show and keeping people entertained. The Machine is made up of Adrian Ziller (on Vocals, Guitar, and Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer), Alison McAlinden (on Bass Guitar and Accordian), and Romy RidesApony Jankelowitz (on Vocals and Percussion). Bringing a unique, but immediately relatable sound to the party, the Machine has toured extensively in Southern Africa to great acclaim, standing ovations and encores! It’s because their sound is catchy and diverse, and runs the full gauntlet of emotions. It is not unusual to have the audience in stiches with laughter one minute, and crying real tears the next. Fuelled by Adrian’s distinctive melodic guitar style and Alison’s signature thumping bass, the Machine lays down vocal harmonies that range from the sublime to the ferocious, taking the audience on an auditory adventure in awesomeness. They have been described as a very theatrical band, with their audience participation, humorous stories and instrument changes, punctuating their impassioned performances. This is no apologetic, introspective “acoustic act”. No: this is an impenitent rock n’ roll show, driven by an acoustic guitar. They have one album currently available from Swamp Records, called: Acoustic Groove Machine: Live @ the Library” and are working on their debut studio album with Hedgehog Records.
