Jerry T. Yates is the former winner of the "Roots Music Association's Gospel Artist of the Year Award".
Jerry is a solo, singer/songwriter/acoustic guitarist, who puts Christian Lyrics to Country, Rockabilly, and Blues music.
One of Jerry's songs, "Part of the Reason" made the Reverbnation Gospel charts at #1 locally, #1 regionally, #5 nationally, and #5 globally.
Originally from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Ashe County, North Carolina, Jerry's family moved to the small town of Fairburn, GA. in 1961.
Jerry formed and played in various rock 'n' roll bands throughout high school, and upon graduation, he performed in Country/Rock bands. In the late 70's Jerry even became a popular Elvis impersonator.
In 1975, Jerry was saved, and in 1978, God called him to the gospel ministry. Since music had been a major part of his life, he formed a Contemporary Christian/Christian Country band called "Chosen Vessels".
In 1982, Jerry was ordained to preach, and in 1979 he preached his first sermon. In 2003, after having played in a Christian band, Jerry began his solo music ministry.
