HARRAH

HARRAH is a powerhouse of metal, blues, and rock & roll. Founded in 2010 to celebrate and continue the music of Lee Harrah in his previous bands such as Syphter, Stone Ka-Tet, and The Ghosts of Now, HARRAH has grown into one of the most exciting metal bands in Charleston, WV. Founded in 2010, HARRAH began performing songs by Lee's previous bands while writing new material. This material was unleashed on the public with the release of the EP First Strike in 2011, which featured as a bonus a blistering set of metal captured live at Shamrock's Pub in Huntington, WV. On July 1, 2016, the self-titled debut was released Through Empty Glass Records, and is available for download on all major digital platforms, as well as physical copies locally in Charleston WV at Budget Tapes and Records and globally at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/harrah2. The founder and vocalist for the band, Lee Harrah, is a veteran of the Charleston, WV metal scene with a killer voice and incredible charisma and stage presence. The music of his previous bands gave HARRAH its genesis and laid the foundation of heavy, down-tuned, swampy southern metal. Lee's inimitable voice and larger-than-life personality make this band stand out, while his humor and charm make fans feel like they're part of the family. Kenny Booth is a graduate of Marshall University's classical guitar program whose versatile guitar style also graces TriElement, a killer instrumental trio from Charleston. Kenny's blues and southern rock influences are tempered and expanded by his background in classical and jazz music, yielding an explosive and genre-defying guitar style. He also produced and engineered the First Strike EP. The incredible drumming of Eric Seckman is the backbone of HARRAH's solid rhythm section. Eric has been in bands with Lee Harrah for years, helping to write the music that shaped the heritage of this band. His deep sense of pocket and infallible rhythm keep the groove nice and heavy, while his flair for flashy, off-the-cuff fills keeps his playing exciting and dramatic. Bassist Sheryl Lovell hails from the Cross Lanes area. She began playing bass in the early '90s, and is self-taught. Spending most of her time repairing rock gear for local bands as the owner of Reagent Sound & Instrument, her key influences include Geezer Butler, John McVie, Gail Greenwood and Melanie Coats. Her bass lines are heavy and solid, yet melodic.
