44 LENINGRAD

The Potsdam based band 44 Leningrad can be named as one of the pioneers of post soviet punk style music. Sounds from the Balalaika and accordion sounds mix with Pogo rhythms and thundering guitar riffs and one feels like being on „Budjonnys“ trails. Even songs from the west or old folk songs are being turned into „Russian Speed Folk“ as played by 44 Leningrad. The former members oft he Soviet Party would turn in their graves, if they´d know their songs are being danced to by hundreds of people. 44 Leningrad have so far never been tired to retrieve old revolutionary songs and turn them into speedy danceable & unique 44 Leningrad songs.
