“Tea Cup Gin has has found a niche playing their hybrid form of gypsy swing and hot jazz by integrating sultry jazz vocals into a smoking rhythm section, while maintaining all the integrity this music requires. Tea Cup Gin has its roots firmly grounded in the gypsy swing tradition. Not only can they execute the songs successfully, they come across as a band that is having a blast doing it, and it shows in the music!”

“Refresh your thirsty ears with TEA CUP GIN's original musical cocktails crafted from an eclectic blend of early 20th Century influences. Their debut album UNDERGROUND LOVE is a crossroads of jazz noir, tin pan, and furious finger style blues, fueled by impassioned vocals, with a dash of Latin rhythms to spice up the mix."”

“Tea Cup Gin writes much of their own music inspired by 1920s and ’30s jazz — their name is a reference to the Prohibition Era when speakeasies had to serve their liquor in tea cups to evade the law. When you compose a piece of music and it inspires people to get up and dance to it, that’s always exciting!”

“When we went with our gut to send you a random email, asking if Tea Cup Gin did weddings, we had no idea on what a magical role you would ultimately play in making our day truly special. From playing “La vie en Rose” for the processional to performing “A Change is Gonna Come” for our Ceremony. And then there was the “Glory of Love” for the recessional. Our wedding was an American Classic in the making. You were there to support us from moment one, ultimately helping us create the musical score of our wedding day. There was a moment during our dinner where (bride) and I looked at each other and truly soaked in the music of Tea Cup Gin. It was American standards at their best. They were classic, romantic and sexy.”

“On May 13, Tea Cup Gin performed for the HOB NOB JAZZ SERIES at Cary's Koka Booth Amphitheater. Most of the numbers were representative of jazz classics and new pieces off of their recently released recording, "Underground Love." Their style is "pushing the boundary of jazz." Indeed, the members are incredibly versatile musicians. Bassist Doug Vuncannon and drummer Isaiah Simpson kept a seamless groove. I noticed them only when they wanted me too – the mark of a great rhythm section... Christy Benson’s voice easily carried across the venue. She belted and cooed and seduced through the various genres of the band's songs. I was particularly impressed with her wonderful diction. The two guitarists, Mike Reid and John Klonowski, stole the show many times.”
