Under the Influence presents.. THRESHOLD FESTIVAL CUC Greenland street Liverpool L1 0BS DEFINITION NOUN: The entrance through which you enter or leave a room or building NOUN: The smallest detectable sensation NOUN: The starting point for a new state or experience NOUN: The largest one-venue indoor festival in Europe In February 2011, Liverpool's CUC will play host to the Threshold Festival presented by Under The Influence. Bringing together some of the North West’s hardest working and innovative artists and promoters, this Music and Arts event will inhabit every performance space within the CUC for three days;11th, 12th and 13th February. The Threshold not only plans to showcase some of the finest professional talent in the North West but also aims to combine community organisations and student volunteers to bring the celebrated arts culture of the region together with over a hundred fantastic acts. With an extensive music programme spanning across the genres and an array of film, cabaret, spoken word, philosophy, theatre, dance, puppetry and visual arts, we hope to leave no discipline unrepresented. We also encourage a lot of the artist to perform in two spaces; on in an “obvious space” and the other in a more quirky setting somewhere else in the gigantic building filled with amazing spaces that has been dying to be used in this way! Each individual venue in the CUC will host music and arts from Friday 6pm and for the entire weekend from 12pm up until 12am except on Saturday when the after party continues until you're ready to stop dancing. The venue will have U18 access until 9pm with performances for and from young people. In addition to the great planned performance programme we will also be hosting a musical instrument amnesty with all donated items going to worthy causes, a vintage, trade and craft fayre, a creative industry convention and professional music panels debating and pondering some of the questions raised by the world of independent music. All of this will be available for an unrivalled £5 per day ticket or £10 for the entire 3 days (separate entry fee for after party but discount will be available for ticket holders) We aim to showcase the amazingly thriving grassroots scene in Liverpool with the involvement of as many local acts, promoters, creative companies and artists as possible.
The first Liverpool Acoustic Live of 2011 features four very different acts in our regular mix of eclectic acoustic talent. Zoe Mulford is an award-winning American songwriter now based in Manchester, and performing across the UK and the USA. Zoe performed for us back in June in Lorelei Loveridge's band The Harem, and impressed everyone when she performed two solo songs. Zoe's music is a wonderful blend of American and English influences, and we're looking to hearing her songs and her exquisite banjo playing. Nadya Shanab was born and raised in Egypt and remained in Liverpool after graduating from LIPA. Her music is a fine blend of Western acoustic, folk rock, and Arabic music, and her songs are laced with oriental vocals, heartfelt lyrics and resonating melodies. Ste Hedley is also a LIPA graduate, and writes songs that are honest and clever, with catchy melodies and quirky lyrics. Northerndaze are Helly and Andy, and they're passionate about music. They're influenced by all walks of life and use vocal harmonies, guitars, piano and harmonica to create music often reminiscent of the late 1960s San Francisco scene. Entry is £4 in advance http://www.wegottickets.com/event/103321 and £5 on the door. Music runs from 8.30pm to 11.15pm.
