GUTTERMOUTH: The word “punk” is thrown around a lot these days and unfortunately, it’s been misrepresented in every way, shape, and form. Then there’s California’s Guttermouth, the true definition of punk rock: loud, fast, and truly offensive. Their infamous tongue-in-cheek humor and hyper songs remain poignant to the times today; lambasting the politicians, the scenesters, and even their own audience.
D.P.I.: Ocean Beach locals D.P.I. (DRUNKIN’ PUNKIN IDIOTS) are bringin’ it back to Shakedown in the name of booze, skateboarding & general reckless abandon. Banned from various local San Diego venues because of the chaos from their shows, Shakedown welcomes them back with open arms & beer bottles.
REVENGE DEATH BALL: With a little bit of edge on their Fu Manchu-tinged doomy sludge, REVENGE DEATH BALL plays like desert Metal whittled by harshness of the otherwise unforgiving climate: slow, callous, and utterly maniacal. The band’s sound reminds me of the great licks from the now defunct Gargantula, especially REVENGE DEATH BALL’s vocals, which are perfectly aligned with the band’s demolition-sounding riffs and enjoyable jagged time changes. Add to this a whole lot of Kyuss, a smattering of Crass and Black Flag, and just a touch of Slayer, and you have a band with an easy appeal: something to put on when driving in the fast lane toward an uncertain destiny.
TWiNGiANT: formed in the spring of 2010 to fulfill the band members’ desire to play loud, low-end music. They are from the lost desert planet of Phoenix, Arizona. :TWiNGiANT: have played numerous local shows with both local and national touring acts such as St. Vitus, Weedeater, Pallbearer, Hull, Atlas Moth, Kowloon Walled City, Intronaut, Black Tusk, Saviours and Thrones.
the CHIEFS are bringin their desert rock sludge fest all the way from AZ.
